A tour of Alcalá y Madrid

Today we took a written and oral test to find out where we're at language-level wise. Then it was a tour of Alcalá, la comida (tuna quiche w/soup and salad), then off to take the bus for the first time to the train station! Very neat and I think I've got the hang of it. Bus 8 for the train station and bus 6 to get to school. Then we walked around Madrid for a little bit a after a train and metro ride and now we're finally back home! (It's 10:30 pm here)

El patio

En la universidad (no tenemos clases aquí, desafortunadamente)

Some famous guy's tomb but his remains were actually moved

on the way to Madrid via train!

A door from the 9th century!

El catedral something-just for the kings!

Another look

Tomorrow we have a free day because it's Labor Day so we are going to explore more of Alcalá and maybe Madrid! Then our excursions start Friday to Toledo. I can't believe I'm here!!

Ya hemos llegado

We have arrived! And it's beautiful but will definitely be interesting. I'm not going to have as much wifi access as I thought I would at home, but hopefully I can still post at school. So without further ado here are some pics from yesterday/today!

Here we go.

The bags are packed, the watches set nine hours ahead, flights checked in, and boarding passes printed out. My semester abroad in Spain starts tomorrow and I couldn't be more excited! I'll be taking three classes at the Universidad de Alcalingua: Spanish conversation class, advanced Spanish literature, and Iberian culture and civilization. Here's to an amazing two months ahead!
