La Alhambra

Today we toured La Alhambra and the Generalife, which are the surrounding gardens. It was beautiful and I definitely enjoyed the sun! Then we had a cool six hour bus ride back to good old Alcalá. Now I'm ready for church tomorrow and finally getting some sleep!

Granada (that means pomegranate in Spanish!)

Today we went to Granada! I got to see where Ferdinand and Isabella and their daughter Juana la loca and her husband Felipe el Hermoso are interred. Here's some illegal photos:

Then we walked around the city and explored! I even kissed someone!

Haha. I'm hilarious I know. Then we walked to la miradora and saw a beautiful view of the city and la Alhambra.

And we also saw a protest! But we didn't participate don't worry mom.

"¡Libre ya!"
Tomorrow we tour the Alhambra and then head back to Alcalá! Here's to another long bus ride...

A new favorite?

San Sebastián may have been ousted as the favorite town! Sevilla was amazing today. Get ready for an absolutely fantastic picture overload.

La plaza de España where part of Star Wars II was filmed!

El Alcazar of Sevilla (Alcazar just means house of the King so that's why we've been to more than one :)

Stunning ceiling

The third largest cathedral in the world!!

Christopher Columbus' tomb/coffin

La Giralda (the belltower)

The best sorbet: lemon and sandía (watermelon!)

Our hole-in-the-wall restaurant/flamenco bar

It was so cool! The stomping/wailing singing, the insane hip movements....

Gazpacho (tomato-based soup in the glass) and tomates con jamón (tomatoes with a bacon-like meat). I love the tomatoes here, can you tell?

Back to the plaza at night

selfie. of course.
So beautiful! And because tomorrow is a día festivo here the plaza is all set up for some ceremony and as we walked around the choir was practicing...it was like living in a movie because we had a soundtrack to our lives!

Tomorrow we head to Granada and then leave on Saturday back to Madrid. I can't wait for the bus drive because as part of the bus committee Brie and I made some epic CD's that we've been listening to as a group and everyone loves them! Yesterday was our "90's goodness" tunes, tomorrow will be our random but awesome collection no. 1. I'll let you know what the people say!

Good night from Sevilla!

Today we drove to Sevilla, with a quick stop in Córdoba to see the mosque/cathedral. And is it stunning!!

Roman ruins underneath the cathedral!

And then we ate rabo del toro (bull's tail) for dinner!

Tomorrow brings a tour of Sevilla-I can't wait to see this amazing city!

Another Madrid trip

By now, I can say that heading up to Madrid is a regular occurance, which I love because there is still so much to see!  Tonight we tried to get into the Palacio Real, but it didn't work out so we walked around the Plaza Española instead.

can you see sancho and don quijote in the background?
And then when we made it back to the Plaza del Sol we found this awesome homage:

Yeah Real!!!!!!!!! That's my team! Way to go on that tenth championship.

Lo que pasa en Lisboa se queda en Madrid

Visited another palace today! And traveled to Madrid to enjoy the atmosphere of the championship game but didn't stay just because we figured it would be super rowdy.

And in the end, the underdog Atlético Madrid lost 1-4 to Real Madrid; but no matter what Madrid was a winner either way!

Segovia

Today we traveled to Segovia for a day trip excursion! And after that we visited la granja, which is the Spanish version of Versailles. It's not as impressive but the gardens are definitely on par!

Here come a lot of pictures with me and famous things.

The famous Roman aqueduct!

La catedral

At the alcazar-or the king's residence

And the view from the top! Can you see that the mountains have snow on them in the background?

Brie and I on top of the world!

La Granja

And I tried to get a cute jumping picture in the gardens but I just couldn't quite get it...

One of many bizarre fountains (frogman anyone?)
