Some not-so-good-news

Ok. Today was not a good day, but it could have been way worse! For instance, in la copa mundial, Spain lost to the Netherlands 1-5. But it could have been a total shutout, so one goal was a good thing. I also had my purse stolen at a restaurant tonight, but we were able to resolve it quickly and I had no cash nor passport in my wallet so it was okay. And I had all my photos minus a very cute one of me eating my octopus for dinner on my computer, so that was okay too. And Salamanca is a lovely town despite the mancha of today.

First, we stopped in Ávila, a little walled town outside of Salamanca. We got to walk on top of the city walls and explore this church of Santa Teresa, who is the perfect example of a Catholic nun. No joke they bring Catholic schoolgirls here to be inspired by her life (at age 7 she tried to run away to be martyred). And we got to see a relic! (It was her finger and looked like as a 1200 year old finger should).

And now on to Salamanca!

soooo much better than the chocolate ones.

can you spot a little sculpture that is not like the others?

And so this is the end to an exciting (whether I wanted it to be or not!) day. Whew. So now good night and much love from Salamanca!
